The Winding Road sign indicates that there is a series of five or more turns or curves (as defined in the warrants for turn and curve signs) separated by tangent distances of less than 120m.

If the first turn is to the right, a right Winding Road sign is used (WA-6R). If the first turn is to the left, a left Winding Road sign is used (WA-6L).

Additional protection may be provided by the installation of Delineation Markers or Chevron Alignment signs
(WA-9). The Advisory Speed tab sign (WA-7) is used only where required.
