The Soft Shoulders sign is used where soft shoulders may present a hazard to vehicles that leave the pavement.

The signs should be installed at regular intervals approximately 300m apart over a 1.0 km stretch and 900m apart on longer sections and must be removed after the shoulders have been thoroughly compacted and when there is no longer a hazard.
