The Road Work sign indicates that work zone activities including minor maintenance or public utilities operations are in progress on or adjacent to the road, and that workers or equipment may be exposed to the driver.

The Road Work sign must always be installed first in the sequence of approach signs. It establishes the maximum speed of 60 km/h when passing highway workers or equipment engaged in roadwork per Section 37 (1) of The Highway Traffic Act. Refer to TCDM 303.

The Road Work sign may be supplemented by the Construction Ahead sign. For short duration work, and very short duration work, the Road Work sign may replace the Construction Ahead sign.

This sign must be removed or covered if workers or equipment are not present. This sign is also available in a hinged version (WD-A41H)
