The Lane Ends sign indicates that the number of lanes of pavement is reduced either from the left or the right. Pavement markings and/or Delineation Markers may also be used to mark the transition.

On divided roads or on one-way streets, particularly where the left lane ends, two such signs may be installed, one on the right side and the other on the median or on the left side of the road.

The right or left version is used as appropriate.
