The Road Narrows sign indicates a reduction in the width of road. It applies only in cases where no reduction occurs in the number of traffic lanes. Pavement markings and/or Delineation Markers may also be used to mark the transition.

On divided roadways, or one-way streets, an additional sign may be installed on the median or on the left side of the road.

The right or left version of the sign is used as appropriate.
